The WWE Clash at the Castle PLE featured a Damian Priest-Drew McIntyre battle and a Cody Rhodes-AJ Styles rematch.

WWE Clash at the Castle took place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

There was a two-hour Countdown show. There was no match on the Countdown show. The Countdown Show was two hours long with Michael Cole, Kevin Owens, and Big E on for the first hour. Jackie Redmond replaced Cole in the second hour of the Countdown Show.

It was Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Wade Barrett on commentary.

Match #1:Cody Rhodes defeated AJ Styles to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in an I Quit Match. Both men bled in the match that went nearly 30 minutes. Styles handcuffed Rhodes during the match, but Rhodes put Styles through a table and found the key to break free. Cody’s mom Michelle was at ringside, so Styles taunted her and Michelle slapped Styles a few times. Cody made the comeback by hitting Cross Rhodes multiple times. Cody handcuffed Styles to the middle rope. Cody threatened to hit Styles with the steel steps, so Styles quit before that. After the match, Cody hit Styles with the steel steps anyway.

Cody Rhodes was standing by the entrance area with the WWE Title. Solo Sikoa walked up to Cody from behind and Solo stared at Cody. The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa attacked Cody as well. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens ran out to save Cody by fighting with The Bloodline guys.

Match #2: Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn defeated Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark by pinfall to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Belair & Cargill hit their double team finisher that saw Cargill hit Baszler with a German Suplex. Dawn went into the ring and hit Cargill with a German Suplex. Dawn covered Baszler for the pinfall win.

The new champions Fyre & Dawn were cheered by the fans since they are from Scotland Fyre & Dawn celebrated with family at ringside.

Match #3: Sami Zayn defeated Chad Gable (w/Otis & Maxxine Dupri) by pinfall to retain the Intercontinental Title. Gable wanted Dupri to hit Zayn with the IC Title at one point, but Dupri refused to do it. Gable nearly won with the Chaos Theory moments later, but Zayn kicked out. After Gable accidentally hit Dupri in her injured left leg, Otis refused to help Gable. Otis picked up Dupri to leave. Gable was furious by what he saw, so Zayn capitalized with a Helluva Kick to win.

Sami Zayn celebrated with the Intercontinental Title. Cole summarized it by saying that Chad Gable didn’t get the job done in the big match again. Zayn signaled to Gable “that’s it” as if to say that this is done. The fans kept singing Zayn’s song to celebrate the win.

Match #4:Bayley defeated Piper Niven (w/Chelsea Green) by pinfall to retain the WWE Women’s Title. Green tried to interfere, but she was ejected from ringside. Green came back later with a mask on her head and was ejected again. Niven hit a Michinoku Driver for a two count. Bayley hit a Crucifix Driver for the win.

After the match, Bayley nodded at Niven as a sign of respect.

Who Won WWE Clash At The Castle Main Event?

For the entrance of Drew McIntyre, there was a band with bagpipes and drums playing “Scotland The Brave” for McIntyre. Drew entered to his regular theme song rather than using “Broken Dreams,” which is his old song.

Match #5: Damian Priest defeated Drew McIntyre by pinfall to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. It was a controversial finish because referee Eddie Orengo got bumped off the apron to the floor. When McIntyre hit Priest with a Claymore Kick, there was no ref there immediately to count the pin. Somebody in a referee shirt ran down to the ring to count the pin. It was CM Punk, who counted just a two count and stopped the count. Drew grabbed Punk, so Punk kicked Drew in the groin. Punk shoved Drew down and the fans booed that. Priest was back up with a South of Heaven Chokeslam for a second time and Priest covered Drew by laying on his back. Referee Eddie Orengo counted the one…two…and three.

After the match, Wade Barrett said that this was the worst night in the history of this industry. Wade said that this was worse than Clash at the Castle two years ago and at WrestleMania. Wade said that management need to do something about this and fire CM Punk. The announcers showed replays of what happened.

Damian Priest celebrated with the World Heavyweight Title while Drew McIntyre was furious at ringside. They showed Priest holding the title one more time.

That’s it for WWE Clash at the Castle and the next WWE PLE is Money in the Bank on July 6th.
