The UNC men’s basketball team will once again play a competitive non-conference schedule in the 2024-25 season. The program released its full slate of non-conference games on Wednesday afternoon, which includes a rare road matchup with Kansas.

Carolina will open the regular season at the Dean Smith Center against Elon on November 4 before making the trip to Allen Fieldhouse to face the Jayhawks on November 8 (Kansas will play in Chapel Hill in the 2025-26 season). It will be the Tar Heels’ first trip to Lawrence since 1960, then they defeated Kansas 78-70. The all-time series is tied 6-6, though the Jayhawks have won the last four meetings — all of which have come in the NCAA Tournament.
UNC returns home to host American on November 15 and will welcome back Jackie Manuel to his alma mater. Manuel served on staff with the UNC men’s and women’s programs before taking an assistant coaching job at American in 2022.
The Tar Heels will then head out to the Aloha State, first to play Hawai’i in a true road matchup on November 22 before taking part in the Maui Invitational, which runs from November 25 through November 27. Carolina is seeking its fifth title in the event and will take on a field which includes reigning national champions UConn.
After returning from Hawai’i, UNC will host Alabama in the ACC-SEC Challenge at the Smith Center on December 4. The Crimson Tide defeated Carolina in the 2023 Sweet 16 on their way to the Final Four. UNC will host La Salle on December 14 before a pair of neutral-site clashes with Florida on December 17 (as part of the Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte) and UCLA on December 21 (as part of the CBS Sports Classic in Madison Square Garden). The non-conference schedule concludes on December 29 when the Tar Heels host Campbell.
