Food to eat based on your zodiac sign — from pineapple to pickles (2024)

Greek physician and service-oriented sage Hippocrates has been quoted as saying, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

On Oct. 24, we celebrate Hippo daddy’s decree with National Food Day.

Revived by TheCenter for Science in the Public Interest(CSPI) in 2011, National Food Day recognizes healthy, affordable and sustainable sustenance, as well as grassroots campaigns in service of better food policies.

As per National Day Calendar, “This theme is defined as ‘cutting back on sugar drinks, overly salted packaged foods and fatty, factory-farmed meats in favor of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and sustainably raised protein.’The observance involves some of the country’s most prominent food activists, too. Their vision includes food that can be healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced. At the same time, the goal is to produce food with care for the environment, farm animals, and the people who grow, harvest, and serve it in mind.”

In honor of good intentions and good, clean living, we’re pairing the zodiac signs with foods that serve their archetypes.

Eat well, live long, read on.

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

Burrata (served at a palatable temperature)

11

Brilliant food writer, fire starter and absolute Aries Tammie Teclemariam sparked a heated online debate about the pallid delivery of restaurant burrata.

In the viral Grub Street opinion piece “A Big Fat Blob of Boring: Can we cool it with all the burrata balls?,” Teclemariam argued, “The problem isn’t burrata itself, essentially a wrapping of mozzarella filled with cream. When it’s applied judiciously … its dense, milky heft serves as a welcome base note to a dish’s other ingredients. But too often, the burrata is the focal point, a thick blob of cold dairy that gets a few splashes of seasonal garnishes and a $20 price tag.”

Boldly calling out bad food in the service of general improvement and as a plea for heat application? Cardinal fire for the win.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)

Raw carrot salad

11

One sign stands apart as the most food-motivated/easy to manipulate through the carrot-and-stick method — and that sign is the cardinal earth and pointed horns of Taurus. Natural hedonists, bulls do well to integrate raw vegetables into their regularly scheduled decadence.

Enter the viral carrot salad. Bonus: this TikTok-touted grub comes together in 3 minutes with less than five ingredients, a real boon for the ease-loving Taurus herd.

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)

Pineapple sleep hack

11

Ruled by the fast-moving, far-reaching, information-dispersing planet Mercury, the mind of the average Gemini is rarely at rest.

Prone to sleeplessness, the people of the twin can benefit greatly from consuming pineapple before bed. Naturally rich in melatonin, the sweet fruit can help ease Gemini into slumber and sync them with the circadian rhythms they betray with worry, celebrity gossip, deep-state conspiracy theories, and excessive screen time.

Certified nutritionist and TikTok influencer Emma Leigh maintains, “Eat pineapple before bedif you struggle with sleep. Pineapple has been shown to increase melatonin in the body by 240%.”

CANCER (June 21 – July 22)

Cottage cheese

11

Cancer is the moon-ruled, emotionally sunburned nostalgist of the zodiac.

Lording over the home, the lactose pumping t–ts, and our umbilical ties to the past, crab folk are primed to enjoy the throwback benefits of cottage cheese.

Named for the farmhouse tradition of repurposing excess milk from butter, cottage cheese has recently been rebranded as “cool” by TikTok after suffering for decades with a geriatric stigma. A blast from the past also known by the nursery rhyme name of curds and whey, cottage cheese is the designated dairy of cardinal water.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)

Lion Diet

11

Leo loves anything that draws attention from a crowd, and the controversial, wholly carnivorous Lion Diet has managed to do just that.

Supporters say it is an immune-boosting, ailment-alleviating, healing-through-elimination cure-all that balances mood and body weight, while critics call it dumb at best and dangerous at worst.

All press is good press, folks. Like the course of fame and itself, “The Lion Diet is difficult to follow and unsustainable in the long term.”

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

Celery juice

11

Virgo rules the guts and the sixth house of ritual, service, and wellness. In-kind and biome, fans of celery juice maintain that a daily dose of the green stuff can cure digestive issues and even psoriasis.

Author and card-carrying Virgo Anthony “Medical Medium” William, the “originator of global celery juice movement,” claims consuming the juice on the regular“increases and strengthens bile, restores the central nervous system and removes old toxins and poisons from the liver.”

Drinking their way to wellness? Very on brand for the “body as temple, welcome the unpalatable for a shot at the invincible” energy of this mutable earth sign.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)

Pickles

As a Venus-ruled air sign, Libra adapts to the tides of trends and the energy of imitation with more speed and agility than any other member of the zodiac.

People pleasers whose currency is popularity, Libra are into keeping up appearances while keeping controversy to a minimum. In kind, pickles are fast becoming the snack of the moment for Gen Z denizens and TikTok acolytes.

For their part, the people of the scales will appreciate that you can look hot eating a pickle while still getting the health benefits of probiotics.

Self-proclaimed “pickle b—h” Charley Thomas told The Post, “I think people made it part of their personalities because the flavor is kinda polarizing without actually being important, and people like to feel edgy, but don’t want to risk being ostracized.”

Polarizing without being important? Edge without ostracism? A poem for Libras who are voted the sign most likely to feign org*sm and accessorize with a fake septum piercing — and the only people to do both at once.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)

Fish sem*n

Scorpio rules the reproductive organs and the eighth house of sex, death, and transformation. Always drawn more to the edge than the middle, Scorpio aligns with the consumption of shirako, fish sem*n harvested from pufferfish, octopus, monkfish and cod.

Spanish Michelin-starred chefDabiz Muñoz became a fan of the dish during a trip to Japan, vowing to incorporate it into his own menus. One consumer described the experience of eating shirako as follows, “It was difficult for me, but it had a very memorable texture.”

Which, coincidentally, reads like a relationship review of the average Scorpio.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)

Hemp

11

Sagittarius is ruled by imbibing, bestowing, luck-pushing Jupiter — planet of expansion and high-mindedness. In kind, hemp seeds are a veritable superfood for anyone who takes their high medicinal, chemical, natural, or otherwise.

A complete protein, hemp isjam-packed with soluble and insoluble fiber, increasing the sense of fullness. Hemp, like the average archer, is an expansive addition to just about anything.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

Sardines

11

Capricorn is a sign that’s built to last, grinning in the face of adversity and shortsightedness with bloody gums and a gold chain. In kind, and can, sardines are a food source that stand the test of time and the ebb and flow of consumer trends.

Back on top after decades of American dismissal, the humble sardine has recently been given a TikTok renaissance and a historical exhibit in Times Square. Industry + edibility = pure Capricorn gold. Runner-up for sea goat sustenance is vodka butter. Drunk on richness, can dig.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)

Perpetual stew

11

Cardinal air and unapologetically themselves, Aquarius rules the 11th house of friends and ideals. Natives share a commitment to the unconventional and a dedication to the betterment of the collective.

Enter perpetual stew, forever soup, or hunter’s pot, which honors both tenets by inviting community members to add to a base pot that’s simmered for weeks and even years. A pot that’s never emptied, and a utopia where everyone provides, and all parties are satisfied? Pure food p*rn to a water bearer.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)

Bug diet

11

Pisces is the sign of the sensitive martyr, ever willing to go to great and curious lengths to help/serve/save. In kind, the bug diet is eco-friendly and body-beneficial.

As The Post reports, “According to the U.N., the worldwide livestock industry accounts for over 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. By comparison, cricket production is 20 times more efficient as a protein source than cattle, and produces 80 times less methane.”

A sustainable source of protein, insects may be the brave new frontier of world-saving food stuffs. Crunch hard and do no harm.
