Nick Lodolo, Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($9,800) — The last two starts haven’t been great DFS performances for Lodolo. He went six in both, allowed four runs in both and struck out six in both. They weren’t the cleanest starts, but he’s striking batters out. In his last six starts, Lodolo scored over 34 DKFP twice. That upside changes the slate. That upside can be reached against the Cardinals. The Cardinals are the fourth-worst team vs. left-handed pitching — 76 wRC+, .270 wOBA and .111 ISO.

Value

Xzavion Curry, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($5,000) — Coor’s Field is a tough scene. The Rockies are not a tough team. They have an 83 wRC+ vs. RHP and strike out more than the average team (23%). Curry is 0-3 in four minor league starts this month. His ERA in May is 13.11. Naturally, Cleveland gave the Columbus Clippers pitcher a call last Tuesday and said, “come up to Cleveland and pitch tonight.” He allowed two runs in 4.1 innings. That’s not bad. It’s not great, either. Curry can do better in Monday’s matchup and he provides maximum savings.

INFIELD

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($6,400) — In the last nine games, Ramirez has six home runs. That streak should continue with a trip to Colorado. Ramirez has a .435 wOBA, .321 ISO and 188 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. The Guardians aren’t cheap, but they’re projected to score more runs than any other team on this slate (5.5 runs).

Josh Naylor, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($5,600) — The Guardians are Monday’s stack. Cleveland is in Colorado and they’re the second-best team vs. left-handed pitching. Naylor has a .381 wOBA, .333 ISO and 151 wRC+ vs. LHP. It’s not a cheap stack, but it can be built. If the stack works, then the Curry punt gets the win and provides the necessary savings.

Value

Austin Hedges, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($2,900) — An expensive Cleveland stack requires a punt. Catcher is the best position for punting. Bo Naylor ($3,900) will likely sit in the lefty-lefty matchup. There isn’t a statistical case for Hedges. It’s simply a DFS strategy play. He provides savings and works in the wrap-around stack.

Davis Schneider, Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox ($4,200) — This isn’t the cheapest MLB DFS value pick because Schneider checks all the boxes. The game is in a hitter’s park. The pitcher is the worst on the slate. Nick Nastrini ($5,500) has 7.65 xFIP in three starts. Last but not least, Schneider excels vs. right-handed pitching — .358 wOBA and 135 wRC+.

OUTFIELD

David Fry, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($5,000) — It’s the end of May. The splits sample size is large enough to be trusted. Fry — in just his second season — is one of the best hitters against left-handed pitching in MLB. Fry has a .611 wOBA, .457 ISO and 308 wRC+. Those numbers are unreal. He’s going to burn down Coors Field on Monday.

Daulton Varsho, Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox ($4,600) — The Blue Jays stack is cheaper than the Guardians at Coors Field. The park isn’t as great and the Blue Jays aren’t that great, but the Jays are facing a weaker pitcher. Varsho’s wOBA is average against right-handed pitching (.321), but the lefty has a ton of power (.260 ISO).

Value

Johnathan Rodriguez, Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies ($3,100) — The Guardians called up one of their top prospects last week. J-Rod had a .378 wOBA at Triple-A this season. In 2023, he had a .404 wOBA and .280 ISO. In his first four MLB starts, he’s scored 0, 7, 4 and 14 DKFP. The best game was his last game

Jacob Hurtubise, Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($2,500) — It’s Memorial Day. Lean into the military narrative. Hurtibise set the Patiot League stolen base record playing for the Army Black Knights. He perfectly fits the Reds’ aggressive lineup. A Reds lineup that is heating up. And that lineup is playing in a park that is literally heating up. There is always an explosion of runs in the summer Sun of Cincinnati.
